Rhode Island warranty reimbursement requirements
Parts and labor eligibility
- Labor reimbursement: Retail compensation for warranty and diagnostic work; reasonable time compensation.
- Parts reimbursement: Retail compensation for covered warranty and diagnostic work.
State requirements
- Maximum RO age: Parts: 180 days before submission.
- Qualifying RO sample: Parts: 100 sequential qualifying customer-paid ROs.
- Alternative sample period: Parts: 60 consecutive days of qualifying ROs.
- Sample selection rule: Parts: Whichever produces fewer ROs.
- Manufacturer response: Rebuttal and proposed adjustment within 30 days after submission.
- Rate effective date: 30 days after declaration, subject to audit/rebuttal.
- Request frequency: Twice per calendar year.
- Labor RO sample: All nonwarranty customer-paid ROs for repairs during the prior month.
Statutory exclusions
- Manufacturer/distributor promotions and discounted campaigns.
- Wholesale parts.
- Engine and transmission assemblies.
- Routine maintenance not covered by a retail warranty, unless provided during repairs.
- Items without individual part numbers.
- Tires.
- Vehicle reconditioning.
